There are 2 practices per week (Mon & Wed) and we play games on Saturday. Different team levels help players compete with boys of similar age, skill, and experience. Limited roster sizes create more opportunities for meaningful practice and game participation. Families become part of a positive community that values growth, accountability, service, hard
work, and relationships.
Parents are encouraged to enjoy the experience, support every player, trust the coaches, and remind
their sons that their value is never determined by a scoreboard, a mistake, or playing time.

Doug Meyer is the head boys basketball coach at Arizona Lutheran Academy, a Christian high school in Laveen. He also serves as the school president. Coach Meyer has led the boys program for 33 years. His philosophy is fairly simple - Be coachable; control your attitude & effort; get 1% better every time you step in the gym; play hard, play smart, and be unselfish; make your teammates better. During his tenure at AZ Lutheran, his teams reached the state championship 7 times, winning state titles in 1999, 2014 & 2015. The program has qualified for state 15 of the last 16 years and his career record is 584-366. Individual players have earned region and conference player of the year awards, all-region and all-state accolades and many have gone on to successful college careers.

Play Hard - give your best effort no matter the circumstances, whether winning or losing, playing well or not.
Play Smart - Know what's expected on offense, defense, in-bounds plays, etc. Being reliable builds trust.
Play True - your words and actions reflect your character. This is true on the court, home or school. Body language matters, being polite is important, and listening is a skill.
Be Unselfish - "Little things" like boxing out, setting screens, taking a charge, making the extra pass or playing great help defense are not really little. These things help you and others succeed. Help others up, be friendly, clean up after yourself. Serve others because it's not about you!
